Indian woman fends off home invaders with stick and makes them do sit-ups at police station as punishment

An Indian woman was able to get revenge on two men who allegedly attempted to break into her home by making them do strenuous exercises after they were arrested. The 85-year-old widow, identified only as Premlata, was woken up when the two thieves attempted to cut through the grill on her house. Premlata lives alone as her four sons all work in Mumbai, Bhaskar reported.
The former government school teacher went right at the two invaders and tossed a bucket of water at them. When one of the men grabbed at Premlata, she whacked him and his accomplice with a stick.
Neighbors heard the racket that was going on and called police.
Law enforcement officers arrived at the home within a matter of minutes and the thieves were arrested.
When Premlata went down to the police station to positively identify the criminals, she made them do sit-ups as punishment. Police gave the woman about $80 to acknowledge her bravery and also handed over a cellphone.
