On Monday night, Aug. 25, Beyoncé’s loyal fanbase, the Beyhive, came after Chris Brown’s girlfriend and on-air personality Karrueche Tran after she recited a tasteless joke about Bey and Jay Z’s daughter, Blue Ivy.
BET’s 106 & Park aired a segment in which they acted out the “top six things Blue Ivy thought about the VMAs.” “‘I really did wake up like this because my parents never combed my hair,'” Karrueche said as Blue Ivy, before laughing. “Sorry, Blue! I love you!”
Once fan-curated Instagram videos of the segment surfaced on social media platforms, Karrueche went on Twitter to say that she didn’t come up with the script.
A source close to Tran told TMZ she simply read the joke verbatim off the teleprompter, the script apparently hadn’t changed since rehearsals.
She insisted she didn’t see the joke beforehand and was mortified afterwards, with both she and her manager going ‘nuclear’ because they too felt the comment was in ‘poor taste’.
Speaking to TMZ, Karrueche admitted she actually admired the child’s hairstyle, saying: ‘I love that Blue is able to wear her natural hair.’
BET President Stephen Hill also issued an apology via Twitter, in which he revealed that he had reached out to Beyoncé and Jay Z and is taking ‘punitive actions.
BET has now suspended the programme and sacked the producer of the show!
Now that’s what is called POWER. Blue Ivy might just be 2 years old but she’s an entertainment power child. She has literally shut down BET’s 106 and Park.
You can make tasteless jokes about the Kardashian’s but dont mess with the carters!
