Mikel Obi Donates $30,000 To Nigeria’s Olympic Team

The Captain of Nigeria’s Olympic team, Mikel Obi has donated $30,000 to the Olympics team ahead of the 2016 Rio Olympics following revelations that all the athletes were asked by the Athletics federations to pay for their airfares.

Although some of the athletes resorted to crowdfunding, the ministry of sports eventually made a turnaround following a public backlash.

Mikel Obi is one of the over age players who will be in Nigeria’s Olympic football team and the Chelsea FC footballer looks to be leading from the front.
