A Nairobi-based pastor has been made to pay for his sins after a High Court in Kenya sentenced him to death for killing his girlfriend.
According to Kenyans, Paul Ng’ang’a Wanjiru of Wells of Faith Church in Dagoretti and ex-convict of Shimo la Tewa was found guilty of killing Ms Caroline Chinjira inside his car in 2012.
High Court judge Jessi Lesiit on Thursday noted that evidence presented by the prosecution, which included Mr Ng’ang’a’s DNA and that of the deceased, incriminated the pastor.
Ng’ang’a, who had previously been released on bond pending investigations, was taken into custody immediately after the judge passed her ruling. His co-accused, James Mutunga Muia who is believed to be his son was, however, set free.
The ruling puts to bed a four-year long investigation into the incident in which the ‘man of God’ strangled the deceased using a wire and hit her on the head with a metal bar.
According to Justice Lesiit, the nature of the attack showed that the accused intended to kill.
Several Kenyan pastors and their churches have in the past been put on the spot over false testimonies, staged miracles and sex scandals.
