The woman died on the spot after a truck carrying timber collapsed on her outside a market in Nnewi, Anambra State.
According to SaharaReporters, the woman, whose identity is not known, was waiting in the early morning hours for the market to open.
“This truck carrying planks collapsed on a woman waiting patiently for security men to open the market,” a citizen reporter told SaharaReporters.
Locals have blamed the abysmal condition of roadways in Anambra State, and in particular around the Nnewi market, for the accident.
One person said that “the truck collapsed due to the slippery and bad nature of the road.”
A citizen journalist said “the Anambra State government must take urgent measure to prevent future occurrence like this.”
