The Nigeria Police Force, who commenced an investigation on the alleged assassination attempt on the life of the Senate Deputy President, Ike Ekweremadu has debunked the assassination claims.

The Acting Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Jimoh Moshood while addressing newsmen in Abuja disclosed that the incident that happened in Ekeremadu’s house was burglary and not an assassination attempt.
According to Moshood, the investigation hasn’t linked to an assassination attempt. He noted that similar incident also took place at the residence of Haliru Adamu, neighbour of the deputy president.
“Investigation so far carried out in the incident does not have any link to assignation attempt.”
The Acting DCP said that one suspect, Mohammed Yusuf in the police custody after being arrested by the police. So far, he’s been making a useful statement.
“The suspect has been assisting the police in the investigation into the matter. We have intensified efforts to arrest other suspects who escaped from the crime scene.”
Ekweremadu and Adamu have made statements to the police in respect of the incident.
Moshood said that Adamu lost his cell phones and jewelries to the thieves while nothing was reportedly stolen from Ekweremadu’s house.
