The United States Consul General in Lagos, John Bray, has tasked Nigerian electorate to desist from every act of violence that could destroy the conduct of peaceful, credible and fair election on Saturday.

During an interview with BBC Pidgin on Thursday, John Bray said America was interested in the peaceful conduct of the general elections.

According to him, “Election is not war, vote not fight.” He urged Nigerians to come out em masse with their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVC) to exercise their civic right in voting credible people-oriented candidates that would effectively represent them and improve their lot.

Bray further cautioned Nigerians against selling their votes, saying the future of the country was dependent on the outcome of the polls. He added:

“I beg you all to come out from your house on Saturday with your PVCs to vote any candidate of your choice. Please, election is not war, don’t fight anybody because of vote, and don’t sell your vote to eat rice.”
