A judge in the US has set R Kelly’s bail at $1 million after he surrendered himself to the Chicago police over sexual abuse on four females, including three minors.
R. Kelly turned himself in on Friday after an arrest warrant was issued. Even though bail was set at $1 million, he only has to pay $100,000 to secure his freedom.
The judge has reportedly asked the singer to desist from interacting with anyone who is not 18 years old and he must also release his passport for the time being.
It has been a tough campaign for Steve Greenberg, the attorney defending the 52-year-old musician. At a press briefing a day after R Kelly was arrested, it was quite an ordeal for the lawyer as he tried to discredit lies about his client.
The 52-year-old’s court appearance comes just weeks after a documentary series called Surviving R Kelly aired. It contained decades of allegations of abuse against him from many women, including the singer’s ex-wife.
