Trouble appears to be looming in Kogi State Government as Deputy Governor Simon Achuba has cried out over alleged maltreatment by Governor Yahaya Bello-led administration.
The Deputy Governor, while addressing newsmen at his office in Lokoja, the state capital on Sunday, lamented that his life is in danger after the Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Busari Hakeem, withdrew his security details for no reason.
According to Achuba, on February 15, he was about to travel home when his security details were ordered to report to Government House for a briefing by the ADC to Governor Bello. On getting to Government House, the ADC to the governor took them to the SARS office to make a statement. He said:
“They accused my ADC and Orderly of gun running but they denied the allegation. As I am speaking now they are under detention. I informed the Commissioner of Police on the situation but till now he has refused to take any action.
“I am a member of the All Progressive Congress (APC). I reported to the national leader of the APC. My impress has been stopped for no reason by the governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello.
“I live as deputy governor in the house without security, I travelled home without police, my life is in danger.”
Achuba also said that the state government has cut off electricity and water supply to his quarters, adding that he currently lives in darkness.
He then urged the Inspector General of Police (IGP) to call the state Commissioner of Police to order so that his security details can be restored back.
