Muhammed Mahmood, Chairman of the Board of the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC), and his daughter have been released by his abductors.
KanyiDaily had earlier reported that Mahmood was abducted on Monday afternoon along Kaduna-Abuja highway, alongside his daughter while travelling from Kaduna to Abuja.
His driver was not that lucky, as he was shot dead by the gunmen during the operation, which took place around Katari, a village few kilometres from Zuba, an Abuja suburb.
According to SaharaReporters, An aide to Mahmood has confirmed that the UBEC boss and daughter were released at about 1:30pm on Tuesday, and that they are hale and healthy.
The aide also said mo ransom was paid for their release.
