A former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode has attacked Yoruba leaders over the continued detention of the co-convener of RevolutionNow movement, Omoyele Sowore.
Sowore, who is standing trial for treasonable charges filed against him by the Federal government, has continued to rot in jail despite being granted N50 million bail by Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu of the Federal High Court in Abuja.
Reacting to the continued detention of the activist, Fani-Kayode questioned why Yoruba leaders won’t come together to help Sowore out of jail the ways Igbos met the onerous bail conditions of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), when he was detained in Nigeria. He wrote:
“If Igbo political leaders could come together and meet the onerous bail conditions to get @MaziNnamdiKanu out of jail why can’t Ooduwa political leaders do the same for @YeleSowore?”
“What is wrong with us? Where are our Senators, Governors and elders! Surely we can do better!”
This comes hours after a former aide to Ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri said that the Igbos would have rallied round to fulfill the bail conditions given to the Omoyele Sowore, if he was one of them.
Reno Omokri said the bail conditions given to Nnamdi Kanu, were more stringent than Sowore’s, but they were all met because the Igbos rallied round for one of their own.
