Human Rights Activist and Co-Convener of Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG), Aisha Yesufu has launched an attack against President Muhammadu Buhari‘s proposed third term bid, as the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) allegedly seeks to sponsor the amendment of the constitution to accommodate the President’s bid.
A member of the APC in Ebonyi State, Charles Enya had filed a suit before a Federal High Court in Abakiliki, seeking the amendment of the constitution to allow President Buhari and state governors contest for third term in office.
Enya, who served as organizing secretary to Buhari during the 2019 general election, asked Abubakar Malami, Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, as well as the National Assembly to remove constitutional clauses hindering elected presidents and state governors from seeking a third term in office.
In the suit, Enya through his legal counsel Barr. Iheanacho, described the two-term tenure limit for presidents and governors as “discriminatory”.
In reaction, Aisha Yesufu of the Bring Back Our Girls movement, blasted President Buhari in a two minutes video, telling him to squash his third term plan.
Aisha vowed to do everything legally possible to ensure that President Buhari does not embark on a third term Agenda.
“For this Naija where we dey, Buhari no go dare am, say he wan do third term. Say Wetin? We die for that nation. We sit down, die for there.”
She warned that if Buhari should dare contest for a third term, Nigeria would call for a Referendum where citizens would take the ultimate decision of agreeing or disagreeing to be together.
The activist said she refuses to be enslaved by the Buhari led-administration, asking the President and his party members to squash the plan.
“Anyhow that idea dey come from their head, make them squash am, make them squeeze am”
