Senator Dino Melaye visited the headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission, (INEC), in Abuja, and presents video clips documenting reported electoral malpractices that occurred on Kogi West Senatorial District poll held on Saturday, November 16, 2019.
While presenting the petition to the INEC on Wednesday, November 20, Melaye declared that nobody will take his “seat in the National Assembly.”
He demanded the cancellation of the Kogi West Senatorial District election, insisting that thugs led by the Speaker of the Kogi State House of Assembly snatched ballot boxes and filled them up with those thump printed in favour of the All Progressives Congress (APC). Melaye said:
“In Igbeda ward, the Speaker of the state House of Assembly led thugs in snatching ballot boxes and these ballot boxes were taken to a designated centre where they were filled with ballot papers thumped in favour of APC.
“All these results were returned by INEC in favour of APC. All areas were you witnessed killings, shootings, helicopters releasing bullets and teargas results were returned.
“I won the election because we had the polling units results, I won the election with a wide margin and nobody will take my seat in the National Assembly, this is voodoo results.”
This is coming barely 24 hours after Senator Dino Melaye promised to report Governor Yahaya Bello and other politicians in Kogi state to the International Criminal Court (ICC) over the alleged violence that occurred during the senatorial and governorship election in the state.
Melaye said what occurred in Kogi state was not election, rather a civil war that claimed 16 lives so far.
