Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki has replied to the ‘mosquito buzz’ comment credited to the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.
The Nations reports that Oshiomhole had in July described the political outburst between him and Obaseki, as a buzzing mosquito around the ear.
“The test of leadership is when a mosquito is blowing your ear, if you keep quiet nobody will hear and if you shout mosquito, mosquito everybody will hear…may we not be provoked by it,” Oshiomhole said.
Reacting to the comment during the Edo Women Summit, as part of activities marking his third anniversary, Governor Obaseki said he will show Oshiomhole that mosquito is capable of causing malaria, and if he’s not careful it will lead to his death.
“They say we are mosquito but we will show them mosquito can cause malaria. If you are not careful, malaria will kill you,” Obaseki said.
Governor Obaseki noted that with the investment in the education sector, Edo would not produce another generation of touts. He stated that his administration has opened up the political space that people do not need to be mobilised to attend political rallies. Obaseki said:
“Edo belongs to all of us and not a few individuals. Edo is on the move and more things are coming. The fight we have been fighting about stable electricity will be won by next year.”
KanyiDaily recalls that Obaseki had once paid a surprise visit to Oshiomhole, where both men claimed that the rift between them was caused by other people.
Oshiomhole described Obaseki as his brother and alleged that the rift between himself and his successor (Obaseki) is the creation of people with personal interest.
