Why I ‘Attacked’ Buhari During Argungu Festival In Kebbi – Man In Viral Video Opens Up

A young man identified as Mohammed Jamilu Gunddare has reacted to the viral video that shows him attempting to attack President Muhammadu Buhari during his visit to Argungu Fishing Festival in Kebbi State.

KanyiDaily had published the video that shows Mohammed lunging at Buhari who posed for photographs with the state governor, Atiku Bagudu, before been intercepted by the president’s Security detail.

Speaking to the press on Friday about the incident, Mohammed said he did not attack the president, he was only ‘excited’ and ‘eager’ to have a handshake with the President, who he admires very much.

The man further stated that if he had died on Thursday during the incident, he would be happy he achieved the ambition of meeting the president one-on-one.

“On Thursday was a difficult day for me, to take a risk to attempt to get the attention of Mr President despite the heavy army of security personnel and architecture in the venue.

“I was emotionally attached to his outstanding virtues of honesty and craved to shake him.

“I can tell you, even if I had died yesterday (Thursday), I would be happy that I have achieved my ambition to meet Mr. President one on one, that is what happened.

“But I am sorry for the disturbances I caused. I admit that it was a breach of protocol out of emotional love.

“Let me make it clear to the general public that I have not done so to secure a job and I am fulfilled to have achieved my mission of meeting the President one-on-one,”he said.

Mohammed also dispelled rumours that he was detained and tortured by DSS personnel.

“I am alive and the DSS never tortured me; nobody ever tortured me, I was well cared for and given food”.

Nigeria’s Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, reacting to the incident, said all the stories of an attack on the president were ‘False’. He added that Bello was neither shot or tortured.
