Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu has emerged the consensus candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) faction believed to be loyal to National Chairman of the party, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole.
Ize-Iyamu, then candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), had battled against Godwin Obaseki, governor of Edo state, in 2016.
He lost the election and defected to the APC in December 2019 so that Oshiomhole would back him for governor against Obaseki with whom he has been at loggerheads.

Ize-Iyamu, a former Secretary to Edo State Government (SSG), emerged on Tuesday night in Abuja through consensus arrangement.
The pastor is expected to slug it out with Governor Obaseki for the direct primary of the party slated for June 22, 2020.
Ize-Iyamu is currently at the national secretariat of the APC to pick his expression of interest and nomination form for the governorship primary election.
Meanwhile, the Edo governorship election has been scheduled for September 19th.
