The Chairman of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM), Mrs. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, who disclosed this on her Twitter page, said the flight earlier scheduled to land at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday is now expected to land at 7:00 p.m.
The Emirates Airlines flight is scheduled to evacuate the first batch of 265 Nigerians from the UAE and will arrive at the Murtala Mohammed International Airport, Ikeja, Lagos.
The aircraft finally landed at the airport at 7.40 p.m. on Wednesday, according to Dabiri who reiterated that all returnees tested negative for COVID-19 before boarding the plane.
“Welcome home! NCDC officials addressing stranded Nigerian returnees from Dubai. They will be proceeding to a location for compulsory isolation. All 256 tested negative for COVID-19 before boarding from Dubai,” she wrote.
KanyiDaily had reported last week that the Nigerian Government cancelled an evacuation flight from Dubai after about 230 citizens, who indicated interest in returning to Nigeria had all paid N242,000 for air tickets.
The citizens desire to return to Nigeria following the outbreak of Coronavirus across the world and the damage it was causing.
