Presidency Contradicts Ganduje’s Government, Says Mysterious Deaths In Kano Caused By Coronavirus

The Presidential Task Force Committee on COVID-19 has blamed the recent mysterious deaths in Kano State on coronavirus.

Over 600 persons have reportedly died of a strange ailment in the past few days in Kano, but the state government attributed them to causes such as diabetes, hypertension and acute malaria.

The Commissioner of Information in the state, Mallam Muhammad Garba, said investigation into the mysterious deaths was still ongoing but preliminary report from the Ministry of Health indicated that the deaths were not connected to the coronavirus pandemic.

President Muhammadu Buhari had during the week gave a matching order to the Presidential Task Force to unravel the cause of the mysterious deaths in Kano and also to contain the spread of the virus in the state.

Speaking with reporters on Sunday, the leader of the task force, Dr Nasiru Sani Gwarzo, explained that numerous tests carried out by his medical team had established the fact that COVID-19 was responsible for the deaths in the state.

“Let me inform us that most of the deaths recorded of recent and test carried out showed that Coronavirus was the cause.

“So, before the final report which would be ready in the next one week or few days, it is necessary for people of Kano to wake up from their slumber that this is a serious issue.

“It is not a new thing, countries like America, China, Italy, Spain, England, France and others experienced similar mysterious deaths,” he said.

Meanwhile, Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has made a ridiculous claim, suggesting that the unusual death recorded in Kano could be deliberate attempt to reduce the population of northern Muslims.
