The man of God was reacting to the directive by the Lagos State Government which had earlier announced that religious gathering in churches by Christians in the state would commence from Sunday, August 9, 2020.

Speaking on SCOAN’s Emmanuel TV, Prophet TB Joshua commended the authorities for their efforts so far in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic.

He, however, noted that his church will remain closed as he is patently waiting on God to direct him on the right time to open church. He said:

“Good Morning. Following the announcement that church services will resume in Lagos on August 9th, 2020 – that is, this coming Sunday – I wish to commend the authorities for their efforts so far.

“However, having heard from the authorities, we are now waiting to hear from God. Please be assured that as soon as we hear from God, we will inform you when our services will resume. Emmanuel – God is with us.”

Meanwhile, Pastor Tunde Bakare has asked churches not to open amid the COVID-19 pandemic, despite the Federal Government giving the go-ahead for reopening of worship centers.

Pastor Bakare urged Christians not to let any religious leader or government official, to lead them like a sheep to the slaughter houses by trooping to churches.
