Edo State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Johnson Kokumo, on Wednesday, paraded six suspects involved in the murder of a 21-year-old Microbiology student of the University of Benin (UNIBEN), Uwaila Vera Omozuwa.
KanyiDaily recalls that that late Omozuwa had gone to RCCG church in Benin city to read her books when the suspects raped and inflicted serious injury on her that eventually led to her death on May 27, 2020.
Parading the suspects on Wednesday, August 26, the police commissioner gave the names of the suspected killers as Nelson Ogbebor, Akato Valentine, Tina Samuel, Mary Ade, Nosa Osabohien and Collins Ulegbe.

One of the suspected killers, Collins Uligbe, from Agbor in Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State, disclosed that his landlady, Mrs Mary Ade, gave them N1 million to kill the undergraduate.
Collins said he attends the same church the student, adding that he was asked by the landlady to wipe Uwaila’s private part with an handkerchief so that she could use it for ritual purposes and prosper in her business.
However, when the landlady was queried, she denied the allegation, saying she neither gave him the money nor asked him to wipe the lady’s private part.

The commissioner, Johnson Kokumo said that the postmortem results confirmed that the said victim was raped before she was murdered.
He assured the people of Edo State that the police will leave no stone unturned to unravel the mystery behind the killing.
KanyiDaily recalls that Omozuwa’s death sparked cry for justice on social media that President Muhammadu Buhari had to order the Nigeria Police Force to speedily and diligently investigate the case and ensure that all the culprits responsible for the barbaric act are brought to justice.
