The Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has dismissed viral reports circulating he social media that it has called off its ongoing strike.
KanyiDaily recalls that ASUU had embarked on indefinite strike early March, this year due to unresolved issues with the Federal Government.
On Friday evening, September 25, 2020, reports emerged on social media that the Academic union had called off the strike. The rumour spread like wildfire across many social media platforms and even became one of the trending topics on Twitter.
Reacting to the development, the Chairman of the University of Lagos (UNILAG) chapter of the union, Dr Dele Ashiru, told Vanguard that nothing of such happened.
Ashiru, who is also a member of the National Executive Committee of the union, said the union was still on strike.
“If we are going to call off our going strike, there is process that will be followed and nothing of such has been done, ” he said.
