#EndSARS: Governor Ganduje Suspends Aide, Dawisu For Criticizing President Buhari On Twitter

Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje has suspended his Special Adviser on Media, Salihu Tanko Yakasai, for criticizing President Muhammadu Buhari on social mmedia over the ongoing nationwide protest  for the scrapping of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).

Yakasai, who tweeted through his handle, @dawisu, had slammed President Buhari for allegedly showing “zero empathy” to the plight of Nigerians whenever the need arose.

Dawisu lamented that the President had constantly failed to show emphaty with the citizens and would often wait to be begged to do so when things were wrong in the country.

Reacting in a statement by the Commissioner for Information, Muhammed Garba, the Kano State Government described Dawisu’s comments as unguarded utterances.

The governor therefore suspended Dawisu with immidate effect, and warned political appointees and public servants to guard against making statements capable of drawing unnecessary controversy and heating up the polity.

“Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje of Kano State has suspended his Special Adviser on Media, Salihu Tanko Yakasai, over some unguarded utterances on the person of President Muhammadu Buhari on the social media.

“The state Commissioner for Information, Malam Muhammad Garba, who conveyed the governor’s directive in a statement this afternoon, said the suspension was with immediate effect.

“The governor, therefore, warned political appointees and public servants to guard against making statements capable of drawing unnecessary controversy and heating up the polity,” the statement reads.

KanyiDaily had reported that there is an ongoing #EndSARS protest across the country against the SARS tactical unit of the Nigerian Police Force over brutality, illegal arrest, extortion, extra-judicial killings, among others.

On Sunday, the inspector-general of police, Mohammed Adamu bowed to pressure and announced the immediate disbandment of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) following nationwide protests over its brutality.
