Osun State Command of the regional security network, Amotekun, has threatened to deal with any individual within its area of jurisdiction who indulges in indecent dressing and speaking incorrect Yoruba language.
Commandant of the security outfit in the state, Amitolu Shittu, disclosed this in a chat with newsmen during a youths empowerment programme initiated by a member of the federal parliament, Lawrence Babatunde Ayeni (APC, Ilesha Constituency 1).
According to him, Amotekun would not tolerate indecent dressing and bastardising of Yoruba language by the youth when it begins full operation in March 2021.
Shittu said that although Nigeria’s constitution provides freedom of association for every individual, it did not provide that youths should appear naked or indulge in speaking incorrect Yoruba language.
KanyiDaily recalls that Operation Amotekun was established earlier this year to help secure internal security across the six Southwest states.
However, the Southwest security outfit seems to have deviated from its main mandate with the new advisory, which bore striking similarities with the tactics of Hisbah police in the North.
Hisbah, which is notoriously known for issuing guidelines that conflict with Nigeria’s secular principles, had recently banned girls and ladies from using or possessing mobile phones and sunglasses in Kaduna State.
