A young man identified as Aondona Yaga has set himself ablaze on Wednesday morning over alleged non-payment of three years allowance by Benue State Government.

The information officer of Gwer Local Government, Chris Avi, who has confirmed the incident, said the deceased was a casual staff at the Gwer local government secretariat, Aliade.

Yaga’s grandmother who was seen around his abandoned corpse, said the young man had been facing difficulty because he wasn’t paid his allowance for almost three years.

According to her, Yaga eventually fell sick and frustrated that couldn’t find money to treat himself, he decided to end his life by setting himself ablaze this morning inside his thatched house.
