Some Nigerians have started converging for a second wave of the #EndSARS protests, a demostration against human right abuses, police brutality and bad governance.
KanyiDaily recalls that the first wave of the #EndSARS protests lasted for 13 days in October 2020 as youths across the country took to the streets to condemn alleged human rights abuses by members of the special anti-robbery squad (SARS).
The protest was later hijacked by hoodlums which led to loss of lives and property. The protest was finally dispersed on October 20, when Nigerian soldiers invaded the Lekki tollgate and allegedly shot some of the protesters.
on Monday, December 7, 2020, the #EndSARS hashtag topped Twitter trends once again and some youths have started gathering around to resume the demostration.
It was learnt that security operatives have besieged the Lekki tollgate in Lagos to prevent further #EndSARS protests in the area.
The gun-wielding soldiers and policemen were said to have arrived at the tollgate in four trucks on Monday morning and they have placed themselves in strategic locations around the area.
Below are some of the reactions from Twitter users
KanyiDaily recalls that the Inspector-General of Police (IDP), Mohammed Adamu, had warned that the police force will never allow another type of #EndSARS protest again in Nigeria.
