“I Am In Cuffs Right Now With Tems In Uganda” – Omah Lay Cries Out From Custody

Fast-rising Nigerian singer, Omah Lay has taken to his social media to cry out over his arrest and detention in Uganda with his colleague, Tems.

KanyiDaily had earlier reported that Omah Lay and Tems were arrested by Ugandan police on Sunday, December 13, 2020, for violating covid-19 guidelines.

The dou were arrested shortly after their performance on Saturday night at The Big Brunch, a concert that held at Speke Resort, Wavamunno Rd, Kampala.

The police also revealed that the manager of the concert venue (Dungu Ivan), the events manager (Prim Kasana) and Tem’s manager (Muyiwa Awoniyi) were also arrested.

In a series of tweets on Monday, Omah Lay revealed that he was in cuffs with Tems, adding that they had tried to secure their bail but all to no avail.

“I’m in cuffs in Uganda right now with Tems. I’m just a singer trying to entertain, why am I being set up in Uganda? I didn’t organize a show, I came on stage and saw teeming fans and sang to them…. Why am I being detained? Why am I not been given a right to a fair hearing?

“Why is Uganda not letting @NigeriaMFA step into this? They have been trying to secure our release to no avail. Is there something bigger at play in Uganda? Why do I have to take the fall for it???”

A Twitter user with the handle, @davidsancez256, who further gave an insight into the matter, said that the singers were being led to prison. His post was accompanied with pictured of Omah Lay in a handcuff.

He wrote, “Finally @temsbaby & @Omah_Lay are taken to Kitalya prison and Tems is taken to Kigo prison, Omah Lay is taken to Kitalya prison until December 16, 2020. And the event organisers /promoters and they will have to appear to High Court on Wednesday.”

KanyiDaily recalls that the Ugandan Government has lamented that citizens in COVID-19 quarantine centres were having sex with each other.
