The Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) has announced that the National Identity Number (NIN) will become mandatory for all vehicle registration from the second quarter of 2021.

This was made known in a statement by FRSC spokesperson, Bisi Kazeem, who disclosed that the decision complies with a presidential directive.

“Beginning from the second quarter of this year (2021), If you want to register your vehicle, it is going to be compulsory for you to provide your NIN. This is part of the security checks,”

“So once you provide your NIN, it makes the matter easier and helps the government in national planning, critical decision making and also enhance adequate Intelligence gathering for security of lives and properties” he said

Bisi Kazeem further stressed that all those applying for vehicle registration will have to provide their NIN as nobody will be exempted irrespective of their status in society.

Kazeem urge members of the public who are yet to be enrolled in the NIN registration to visit the nearest National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) office to register.

KanyiDaily recalls that Nigerian Government gave telecommunications company two weeks to block all SIM cards registered without NIN, ask all subscribers to provide valid NIN to update their records.
