Governor Kayode Fayemi, Governor of Ekiti State and Chairman of the Nigerian Governors Forum has stated that governors will take the Covid-19 vaccine on live television to show the citizens that the vaccine will work.
Governor Fayemi briefed journalists in Abuja after a closed-door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari, where they discussed security, economy, and vaccine management.
The chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum, however, said the state governors have agreed to take the Covid-19 vaccine on live television.
“Absolutely. We too will like to demonstrate to our citizens that we believe that vaccines would work. Don’t forget, we have a lot of experience on this. Governors Forum managed the polio vaccines administration in the country and we have garnered a lot of experience”

He also stressed that the president has agreed to inform the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19, the need to use influencers such as religious leaders, entertainers, and athletes to engender the confidence of citizens at the state and local level.
According to Governor Fayemi, this move will help to address the cultural and religious concerns around taking the vaccine.
