A Fulani herdsman identified as Jiji Danmawale was reportedly killed on Tuesday when a Yoruba activist, Sunday Adeyemo, popularly known as Sunday Igboho, allegedly razed down a Fulani community in Igua area of Yewa North in Ogun State.
KanyiDaily recalls that Igboho, who arrived in Ogun on Monday, had vowed to flush out ‘criminal Fulani herdsmen‘ causing insecurity in the state.
Speaking with reporters on Tuesday, Ogun Chairman, Miyyati Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Dende alleged that the house of Sarkin Fulani of Igua, Alhaji Adamu Oloru, was set ablaze by youths led by Sunday Igboho.
“They burnt the houses and that of Sarkin Fulani, Alhaji Adamu Oloru, located at Igua this [Monday] evening. They also set cattle market ablaze.”
“We have been contacting the security agents, including the DSS, as we are aware that he is coming.”
“We listened to the information on radio, we learnt that he was welcomed by the state government. We are helpless as we don’t have anybody to protect us. Many of our people are now scattered in the bush.”
Alhaji Muhammadu Chede told DailyTrust that his elder brother, Fulani herdsman, known as Jiji Danmawale, was killed in the process and his body burnt.
“We are now at Randa in Abeokuta, we are making some arrangements to get his remains for burial,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police is currently having a peace meeting with the affected communities.
KanyiDaily had also reported how the house of Oyo Seriki Fulani was allegedly set on fire by aggrieved Yoruba youths who allegedly attacked his residence on Friday night.
