Due to the proximity of the West African countries, the Super Eagles left on Friday morning through the Lagos State Waterways Authority boat jetty in Ikoyi with more than three vessels spotted conveying the team.

They all arrived safely in Porto Novo on Friday evening before being moved to the Golden Tulip Le Diplomat hotel, where they will be residing.

The Gernot Rohr’s men are expected to have a training session at the Charles de Gaulle Stadium on Friday evening before Saturday’s game against Benin Republic.

The Nigerian football team will be expected to return to Lagos by Sunday for their final AFCON qualifying fixture against Lesotho at the Teslim Balogun Stadium.

The Super Eagles lead the Group L table after picking up eight points from four matches and Benin trail the three-time African champions by just a point in second spot.
