“29 In Lagos, 3 In Abia” – Nigeria Records 40 New COVID-19 Cases As Total Hits 166,019

The Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) has recorded 40 new cases of coronavirus, bringing the total number of infections in the country to 166,019.

The NCDC made this known on Sunday night via its official Twitter handle where it disclosed that the new cases were recorded in seven states.

“On the 23rd of May 2021, 40 new confirmed cases were recorded in Nigeria,” the NCDC said.

“The 40 new cases are reported from 7 states- Lagos (29), Abia (3), Ogun (3), Kano (2), Kaduna (1), Plateau (1), and Rivers (1).

“Till date, 166019 cases have been confirmed, 156476 cases have been discharged and 2067 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory.”
