Nigeria’s Super Eagles striker, Paul Onuachu has won the Belgian Professional League best player and highest goalscorer of the year award.

Onuachu, who plays for KRC Genk, won the two remarkable awards at the Belgian Pro League Awards traditional gala hosted at the JAM hotel in Brussels on Monday.

The 26-year-old was named the 2020/21 Best Footballer of The Year, after beating Club Brugges’s Noa Lang and Beerschot’s Raphael Holzhauser to take home the award.

The Nigerian International scored 33 goals and provided five assists in 38 league appearances this season to pick the Golden Shoe Award.

Onuachu also helped Genk win the Belgian Cup following a 2-1 win against Standard Liege where he provided the assist for his side’s second goal.

Reacting to his stellar performance, Genk described the Super Eagles striker as a legend.

Genk tweeted, “Congratulations Paul! As a club, we are of course very proud of Paul. He is already a legend of KRC Genk.”

Liverpool, Seville and other top European clubs in the Netherlands, England, and Spain have reportedly shown interest in the 26-year-old.

KanyiDaily had reported how Paul Onuachu helped Nigeria defeat Egypt in an international friendly match played at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Delta.
