A police sergeant attached to Kano Command’s Motor Traffic Division (MTD), Kabiru Isah, has been rewearded with N00,000.00 after he returned the sum of N1,294,200.00 found at a scene of a fatal accident.
The police spokesperson in Kano, Abdullahi Haruna, in a statement on Friday, said the officer found the money while “conducting scene analysis”, minutes after the fatal accident.
Haruna said the owner of the money was knocked down to death by a trailer along Zaria Road, Kano while on his motorcycle, and was in possession of the said amount of money arranged in a shoebox.
While handing over the money to the family of the deceased, the commissioner of police in the state, Sama’ila Dikko, called on police officers and other people of the state to emulate the good conduct of Mr Isah.
The managing director of Kano Road Traffic Agency (KAROTA), Baffa Dan’agundi has reportedly rewarded the police sergeant with one hundred thousand naira (N100,000.00).
The State Traffic Officer (STO), SP Magaji Musa Majia, MD KAROTA stated that he was happy that the police officer involved is attached to the traffic division of the command and called on the people of the State to emulate the good behaviour displayed by the officer.
Baffa said, “we appreciate what the police are doing in Kano and we must give them all necessary support and cooperation.”
