Controversial singer, Naira Marley has volunteered to sing a new national anthem for the country after the House of Representatives received a proposal to change Nigeria’s name to the United African Republic or United Alkebulan Republic (UAR).
KanyiDaily recalls that the House Of Reps had received a proposal from a tax consultant, Adeleye Jokotoye, to change Nigeria’s name to the United African Republic or United Alkebulan Republic (UAR).
Jokotoye explained that he chose ‘United African Republic‘ because Nigeria is made up of hundreds of ethnic groups that need to be united.
As an alternative, he suggested that Nigeria could also choose United Alkebulan Republic (meaning: United Mother of Mankind Republic) as its new name.
Reacting to the development on his Twitter page, Naira Marley said he will compose the new national anthem for UAR if it is approved.
”Omo Na me go sing the new national Anthem for UAR,” the singer wrote.
KanyiDaily recalls that HURIWA had also asked the National Assembly to scrap the name ‘Nigeria’ which was coined by a white lady who gave the name after taking a cup or two of ogogoro (local gin).
