Two herdsmen have been arrested after one of their cows strayed and killed a two-month-old baby at Ebrumede community in the Effurun area of Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta State.

It was gathered that the incident happened around 11 am on Monday when the two herdsmen were escorting the cow to a buyer in DSC Expressway by Ebrumede Magistrate Court near the DSC Roundabout.

The cow was said to have strayed off their hands and attack the victim at the back of his mother while she was standing by the side of the road.

The cow was said to have used its horn to hit the baby on the head bursting the deceased skull in the process, while the mother sustained serious injuries.

The baby was immediately rushed to the Warri Central Hospital for urgent medical attention but was pronounced dead on arrival.

The herdsmen, who sensed dangers from angry residents and indigenes of the area, ran away from being attacked and possibly killed.

But the Delta State Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Bright Edafe, who confirmed the incident, said the herdsmen escorting the cow had been arrested at the Ebrumede Police Station where the case was being handled.

KanyiDaily had also reported how 50 cows died in mysterious circumstances in Akungba-Akoko, Akoko Southwest Local Government Area of Ondo state.
