The Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA) has confirmed the killing of two of its officers and the abduction of a senior officer by bandits who invaded the military university located in Afaka, Kaduna State.
KanyiDaily had earlier reported how bandits attacked the NDA academy where two officers were killed and another abducted around 1:00 am on Tuesday morning.
In a statement on Tuesday afternoon, the NDA spokesperson, Bashir Jajira, a major, said the bandits gained access into the well-fortified institution because the security architecture of the facility was compromised.
Jagira who assured that the cadets and the community were safe, added that the NDA in collaboration with the 1 Division Nigerian Army, Kaduna; and the Nigerian Air Force Training Command, had launched a manhunt for the bandits.
The statement titled, ‘Security breach of the Nigerian Defence Academy architecture,’ reads:
“The security architecture of the Nigerian Defence Academy was compromised early this morning by unknown gunmen who gained access into the residential area within the Academy in Afaka. During the unfortunate incident, we lost two personnel and one was abducted.
“The Academy, in collaboration with the 1Division Nigerian Army and Air Training Command, as well as other security agencies in Kaduna State, has since commenced pursuit of the unknown gunmen within the general area, with a view to tracking them and rescue the abducted personnel.
“The NDA community and Cadets are safe in the Academy. We assure the general public that this unknown gunmen would soon be apprehended and the abducted personnel rescued.
