Reno Omokri, a former aide to President Goodluck Jonathan, has instituted a petition to send President Muhammadu Buhari to prison for his alleged involvement in the killing of unarmed #EndSARS protesters at Lekki Toll Gate in Lagos State.
Omokri urged Nigerians to sign the petition he initiated on the web-base aggregator, change.org, while reacting to the money popular singer, Davido, received in cash transfers after he solicited for funds on social media.
KanyiDaily had reported how Davido, who is the son of a billionaire, Adedeji Adeleke, received over N100 million after he took to his Twitter page to beg for money to clear his car from the port.
Reacting to the development on his Twitter page, Omokri pleaded with Nigerian youths who love the country to sign the petition to send Buhari to prison in 2023 for the Lekki massacre.
He wrote, “I don’t need you to send me ₦1 million to prove you love me. All I need is for you to prove you love Nigeria by signing this petition to send Buhari to prison for the #LekkiMassacre of #EndSARS protesters here.
“In 4 hours Nigerians raised ₦114 million for @Davido. Now I beg Nigerians to show that we value human lives more than money by signing the petition to send Buhari to prison for l the #LekkiMassacre of unarmed #EndSARS protesters here.#BuhariForPrison2023.
“Stop saying ‘God go punish Buhari’. If we do nothing to bring Buhari to justice, he will escape. We are the ones God will use.
“Sign the petition to send Buhari to prison for perpetuating the #LekkiMassacre of #EndSARS protesters here #BuhariForPrison2023.”
This development comes following the report by the Lagos State Judicial Panel of Inquiry on the shooting incident that occurred last year during the #EndSARS protest at the Lekki Toll Gate.
KanyiDaily had reported how soldiers opened fire on #EndSARS protesters at the Lekki toll gate, on Tuesday night, October 21, 2020, killing an unconfirmed number of persons and injuring so many others.
According to the 309-page report submitted by the Lagos Judicial Panel on Monday, November 15, 2021, nine protesters were confirmed dead while four others were presumed dead.
The report listed 48 names as those who were casualties of the Lekki shooting incident. Among which, 24 sustained gunshot injuries, while 15 others were assaulted by soldiers and police.
The panel which was headed by Justice Doris Okuwobi, also noted that 96 other corpses were presented by a Forensic Pathologist of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Professor John Obafunwa.
KanyiDaily recalls that popular Nigerian singer, Burna Boy has berated the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, for lying about the killing of unarmed #EndSARS protesters at Lekki Toll Gate in Lagos State.
