Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum has given the sum of N100 million to 152 reformed youths who were members of a violent political group known as ECOMOG.
According to SaharaReporters, the benefactors who recently renounced their thuggery received the business grant during the empowerment that took place at Ramat Polytechnic Maiduguri, the state capital
Zulum said that the ‘thugs’ who received the money as start-up funds had earlier been trained in different skills, adding that the empowerment was a demonstration of his commitment to ensuring a better future for youths in the state.
The governor had at different times in the past approved series of vocational jobs and empowerment programmes for the groups to make them have access to lawful means of livelihood.
KanyiDaily recalls that Governor Babagana Zulum had also given N12.8 million to 641 indigenes who qualified for the final screening phase of the recruitment into the Nigerian Army.
