Police has arrested a 27-year-old man, Monday Julias, for allegedly strangling his 8-month-old son, Asiimwe Julius, to death in Isingiro district, Uganda.
The Rwizi Regional Police Spokesperson, ASP Samson Kasasira, who confirmed the incident, said the suspect murdered his son after a domestic misunderstanding with his 20-year-old wife, Atuhaire Gift.
The suspect, who is also a teacher at Green Stone Primary School, was said to have strangled the boy to death on Sunday and dumped the body in a swamp.
Kasasira said that a report of a missing child was filed on Monday upon which the suspect was apprehended and he confessed to killing his child during interrogation.
Julias then led the police to the scene where they retrieved the body and took it to Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital Mortuary for postmortem.
Kasasira warned that the police condemns all forms of violence and urged members of the public to always report to the relevant authorities in times of grievances for mediation and reconciliation.
