Ebelechukwu Obiano, the wife of former governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano, has finally apologized for fighting with a former Ambassador to Spain, Bianca Ojukwu.
KanyiDaily had reported how Ebere and Bianca engaged each other in a messy fight on Thursday, March 17, during the inauguration of the newly elected governor of Anambra state, Charles Chukwuma Soludo.
Reacting to the incident, Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide (OYC) had asked the Obiano family to apologize to the entire Ndigbo for the unprovoked attack on Oujukwu’s wife.
The Igbo group described Mrs. Obiano’s action as a big insult to the entire Igbo race, warning that it would not sit and watch anyone denigrate Ojukwu’s family.
The Obi of Awka Ancient Kingdom, His Imperial Majesty, the Eze Uzu 111 of Awka, Obi Austin Ndigwe had also given Ebele seven days ultimatum to publicly apologise to the entire Igbo people or face serious consequences for fighting Ojukwu’s wife.
Ebele Obiano Apologize For Fighting Bianca Ojukwu
According to Punch, Obiano’s wife has finally tendered an apology to Soludo and other dignitaries present at the inauguration, saying there was no justification for the public embarrassment that happened at the event.
“Those who know me can testify that before and throughout my eight years as the First Lady of State, I pursued peace, promoted philanthropic gestures which empowered many of our less privileged people. No excuse can therefore be tenable as justification for such public embarrassment, no matter the height of provocation.
“Equally, I wish to extend the same apology to all the important dignitaries, the people of Anambra State, as well as the entire Ndigbo for that unintended embarrassment at the occasion,” she was quoted by Punch as saying.
KanyiDaily recalls that Obiano’s wife had explained that all she did was to approach Bianca Ojukwu for their usual friendly banters only to be slapped and pushed by the former beauty queen.
However, Bianca had claimed that she slapped Ebele because she verbally attacked her and attempted to remove her (Bianca’s) headtie, an act she considered “a sacrilege to a titled matriarch such as myself in Igbo culture”.
Bianca noted that the former first lady was “clearly intoxicated with whiskey” when the latter attacked her at the inauguration before Victor Umeh restrained the both of them.
Meanwhile, the former APGA chairman, Victor Umeh had confirmed that Bianca narrated what truly happened between her and Ebere because they were all there at the event.
