Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma has begged with his predecessor, Senator Rochas Okorocha for forgiveness after several years of bad blood and animosity between them.
During an interview with Channels TV on Monday, March 14, the governor revealed that he had extended an olive branch to all aggrieved stakeholders in the state.
When asked if Okorocha was among the stakeholders he reached out to, Uzodinma said he called a truce and apologized to Okorocha because he was tired of the lingering crisis in the state due to his long feud with the former governor.
Uzodinma said, “I have apologised to Owelle Rochas Okorocha and other Imo stakeholders. If I have done anything that does not go down well with him or anybody, forgive and forget.
“Okorocha is my brother. He is occupying the seat I left in the Senate. I have nothing personal against him.
“All I’m asking is even if I have done anything that does not go down well with him or anybody, forgive and forget. Let us come together to work for our people.”
Since assuming office in 2029, the governor and his predecessor have been on each other’s throats with accusations from both camps with the sole aim of taking control of the state.
While Uzodimma had continued to accuse Okorocha of interfering in running the state’s affairs, Okorocha had blamed the governor for witch-hunting him by destroying all his legacy projects and harassing his family including the arrest of his son-in-law, Uche Nwosu.
KanyiDaily recalls that Hope Uzodinma had revealed that his problem with Rochas Okorocha started when he refused to dissolve the panels set up by Emeka Ihedioha to probe his eight-year rule in the state.
