Chrisland School in Victoria Island Garden City, Lagos, has suspended a 10-year-old female pupil after she was allegedly rαped by her male colleagues during the World School Games in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE).
Nigerian music executive, Ubi Franklin, who disclosed this on his Twitter page on Sunday, April 17, said the girl was sexually abused by her classmates, who recorded the incident and posted it on Instagram.
Franklin stated that the school covered up the incident for a month but the alleged victim’s father found out about the incident after another parent shared the clip that was circulating on Instagram with his wife.
He wrote, “Just got off the phone with a friend of mine His 10-year-old daughter was selected to represent her school at the World School Games in Dubai. His daughter was r**ped by fellow students, video tapped and posted on Instagram and the school concealed it for a month,”
“He found out on his own when another parent called his wife and showed his wife the video of his 10-year-old daughter being circulated on Instagram. I have spent the last 1hour listening to confessional statements by some teachers and I am begging this should rather be a dream.”
Franklin added that the school took the 10-year-old girl for a pregnancy test without the parent’s consent and suspended her afterward.
He wrote, “UPDATE ON MY PREVIOUS POST. This school took the girl from her parents that they wanted to conduct a Covid test and the school rather took the girl for a pregnancy test. As we speak the girl has been SUSPENDED from the school. Some things don’t make sense at all.”
According to People Gazette, the school suspended the girl for taking part in a truth-or-dare game with other students while representing the school in the World School Games in Dubai, between March 10-13, 2022.
In a letter sent to the girl’s parent, on April 14, the school authorities told her guardian that she took part in “improper behaviour” after playing the truth-or-dare game, describing her as a “major participant.”
The statement reads, “It was discovered that your daughter was involved in an improper behaviour during the recently concluded World School Games in Dubai.
“With a few of her counterparts willfully participated in a game they called Truth or Dare’, a game which led her and a few other co-learners to carry out immoral act after the lights out instruction was given.
“In line with our core values centred on discipline, Chrisland Schools have zero tolerance for any improper behaviour and misconduct.
“A full-scale investigation has been done and the parents of all the culpable learners have been duly notified with the necessary punishment meted out on the learners.
“The parents gave their full cooperation realizing the need to work with the school so that the learners can be corrected and be of expected proper behaviour henceforth.
“However, in the course of the school’s efforts to see how best we can help who was a major participant In the whole incident, every effort to inform you as her parent about the incident and ensure that this improper behaviour is permanently corrected, has proved to be futile. We cannot as a school condone such.
“Consequently, is hereby placed on indefinite suspension until you as the parents ensure that she is punished, adequately counselled and rehabilitated.
“However, if you need our assistance in any form to rehabilitate the school is willing to assist. Thank you. Yours faithfully.”
