In a statement on Thursday, INEC spokesman, Festus Okoye confirmed that one of their staff, Nwokorie Anthony, was shot dead during the attack while two others went missing on duty yesterday morning.
As a result of the development, Okoye announced the suspension of the CVR at Ihitte Uboma council area, as he extended the commission’s condolences to the family of the deceased while urging members of the public to help in safeguarding its officials.
The statement reads, “The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has suspended the Continuous Voter Registration Exercise (CVR) exercise in Ihitte Uboma Local Government Area of Imo State,” the statement reads.
