Popular British DJ and radio presenter, Tim Westwood has been accused of sexual misconduct by seven different women.
According to BBC, the 64-year-old Dj was accused of predatory sexual behaviour between 1992 and 2017 by seven women who claimed he abused his position in the music industry by using his power to exploit them.
The publication revealed that they received detailed accounts from the victims; all women of colour who claim to have met Westwood through his work and accused him of predatory sexual behaviour and touching in incidents.
In an investigation to air on BBC Tuesday, three of the victims accuse Westwood of ‘predatory sexual behaviour’ while four others allege that he groped them at events.
Two of the women, who were aspiring to work in the industry, said they agreed to come to London to meet him to discuss music. They accuse the DJ of driving them to a flat and initiating unwanted and unexpected sex.
One of them was quoted as saying she was 19 at the time while Westwood was 53.
Another woman said she met Westwood, then in his mid-30s, when she was 17 and a member of an R&B group. She alleged she was subjected to unwanted oral sex after agreeing to meet him.
Four young women also accused the DJ of either touching their bottoms or breasts as they posed for photographs with him at different events where he was performing.
The women, who are all black, decided to tell their stories after anonymous allegations of inappropriate behaviour by the white DJ began circulating on social media in June 2020.
One woman, who chose to remain anonymous, said Westwood had “absolute power” in the recording industry and black community despite being a white man.
However, the DJ has denied all claims of sexual misconduct with his spokesperson telling the publication they are completely false and denied in their entirety.
His spokesperson told MailOnline, “Tim Westwood strongly denies all allegations of inappropriate behaviour.”
“In a career that has spanned 40 years, there have never been any complaints made against him officially or unofficially. Tim Westwood strongly rejects all allegations of wrongdoing.”
DJ Tim Westwood spent much of his career with a rap show on BBC Radio 1. He is currently employed by London station Capital Xtra where he hosts a weekly show.
