UNILAG Appeals To Rema After Bowen University Tried To Woo Him Amid ASUU Strike

The University of Lagos (UNILAG) has appealed to Nigerian singer, Rema, after Bowen University in Iwo, Osun, tried to woo him due to the ongoing strike by the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU).

Bowen University Woos Rema

KanyiDaily recalls that ASUU had embarked on a warning strike since February 14, over the failure of the federal government to meet its demands.

In a Twitter post on Monday, April 18, Rema who got admission to study ‘Creative Arts’ at the UNILAG, lamented that he is yet to resume classes since he announced his admission in January.

Reacting to the tweet, Bowen University told the singer that he would not be delayed by ASUU if he becomes its student.

In his response to the tweet, Rema called the attention of UNILAG to Bowen’s tweet while also expressing his excitement at the Osun-based varsity’s gesture.

He wrote in Pidgin: “UNILAG private university don dey toast me o, I’m blushing omg stop it”.

UNILAG Appeals To Rema

Reacting to the tweet on Tuesday, UNILAG shared a clip from ‘Jo’, a track off ‘Rave And Roses’, Rema’s latest album, while urging the singer not to allow anyone to change his mind.

The tweet reads, “Hmm… Rema dear, UNILAG has chosen you o, Hmm… so don’t let anybody come dey change your mind o…Rema no dey vex for us o.”

Rema Replies UNILAG

In a swift reaction, Rema wrote: “Awww Unilag end the strike or I will go ooo, we want to go back to school pls the youths are not happy.”

KanyiDaily recalls that the Minister of Labour, Chris Ngige had claimed that the Federal Government lacked the money (N1.1 trillion) to meet ASUU’s demand.
