Farah Dagogo, representing Bonny/Degema Federal Constituency has been remanded in police custody by a Magistrate Court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Dagogo, who is a governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State, was arrested on Thursday while attending the Party’s gubernatorial screening.
There was mild drama at the PDP zonal secretariat in Port Harcourt, Rivers State during the accreditation of the party’s governorship aspirants ahead of the party primaries.
Some of the Rivers State aspirants at the screening were the former state chairman of the PDP, Felix Obuah, Senator Lee Maeba, former Transport Minister, Dr. Abiye Sekibo, and David Briggs.
Drama started when the men of the Nigerian Police stormed the venue and arrested a member of Dr. Farah Dagogo, who is one of the governorship aspirants.
Dagogo was on Wednesday declared wanted by Governor Nyesom Wike, who accused him of sponsoring cultists who attacked the PDP secretariat.
The governor, in the statement, directed the police to arrest Dagogo, who immediately denied the allegations and vowed to attend the screening exercise.
Wike’s order came barely two days after Dagogo declared his support and allegiance for former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, to clinch the party’s presidential ticket ahead of the governor.
