There are fears that many people may have been killed and several others injured after jets belonging to the Nigeria Air Force (NAF), were reported to have bombed Kunkuna village, in Safana Local Government Area of Katsina State.
It was gathered that the incident took place at about 11:00 pm on Tuesday, shortly after President Muhammadu Buhari’s advance team convoy was attacked by terrorists along the Dutsinma -Yantumaki road, in the Dutsinma council area.
Though details of the incident are still sketchy, it was learnt that the military jets were bombing terrorists that had ostensibly attacked president Buhari’s convoy when it “accidentally” hit the wrong coordinates while targeting a terrorist camp in the area.
Sources said that many of the villagers lost their lives when the bombs exploded while several others sustained injuries. It was also gathered that many homes were leveled to the ground in the process.
“A military jet earlier today dropped airstrikes on Kunkuna Village in Safana Local Government Area of Katsina State. We cannot confirm the number of casualties now,” a source told Sahara Reporters.
When contacted, the spokesman of the Nigerian Air Force, Edward Gabkwet was unreachable at the time of filing this report.
KanyiDaily had also reported how gunmen attacked Kuje prison in Abuja, freeing over 600 inmates including all detained Boko Haram insurgents.
