The Northern Elders Forum (NEF) has reacted to the decision of Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), to field a Muslim-Muslim ticket in 2023.
KanyiDaily recalls that Tinubu had announced his fellow Muslim, Kashim Shettima, a former Borno State Governor, as his running mate for the 2023 presidential election.
Reacting on his Twitter page, NEF spokesman, Hakeem Baba-Ahmed listed three things that would happen following Tinubu’s choice of vice-president,
According to him, Christians would walk away from his ticket, or Muslims would vote for him even though it won’t make any difference in Tinubu’s electoral fortune.
Baba-Ahmed said: “Now that BAT has decided on Muslim-Muslim, 3 things are possible: All Christians will walk away from his ticket.
“All Muslims will line up behind his ticket. It will not make any difference to his electoral fortunes. Are the faiths of our leaders that important to how they lead?”
KanyiDaily recalls that the Northern Elders Forum had backed the Muslim-Muslim ticket, saying “ordinary” Nigerians no longer care about the religious background of their political leaders.
