Most Nigerian Politicians Are Foreigners, Their Families Live & Study Abroad – ASUU President

President of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), Emmanuel Osodeke has revealed why most Nigerian politicians don’t care about the plight of students in the country who have been on strike for almost six months.

Osodeke Says Most Politicians Don’t Care About ASUU Strike

KanyiDaily recalls that ASUU had embarked on a warning strike since February 14, over the failure of the federal government to meet its demands.

Amid the strike, the government and the union have held a series of meetings, but no agreement has been reached by both sides on ending the strike.

Speaking on Wednesday during a Twitter Space organised by Premium Times on the lingering ASUU strike, Osodeke said most Nigerian politicians are foreigners because they don’t live in the country.

Acoording to him, most of the politicians have their families abroad, where they have access to quality education and, as such, are not bothered about the plight of Nigerians.

“With all due respect, most Nigerian politicians are foreigners, their families live abroad, study abroad, all they do is come here, spend a few days, pick as much money and go back to ‘their countries’ to go and enjoy the money.

“There’s the issue of insecurity and all sort of things are happening in this country, the politicians are not bothered because they are not here,” the ASUU president said.

KanyiDaily recalls that ASUU had called for a law placing restriction on public office holders from sending their children to foreign countries to study.
