Local Well Digger Suffocates While Trying To Evacuate Well

An unnamed local well digger in Lagos has suffocated after going into a well to evacuate it as some chemicals had mixed with the water.

This was disclosed by the Spokesman of the Lagos State Police Command, Benjamin Hundeyin in a short post on his Twitter handle on Monday morning.

Hundeyin said the incident happened in the Ipakodo area of the state.

He said an investigation into the incident has commenced and advised people to put personal safety first.

He wrote, “Somewhere in Ipakodo, a local well digger was contracted to evacuate a well because some chemicals had mixed with the water. The well digger went into the well, and minutes later, suffocated. Investigation is ongoing.

“Please, endeavor to always put personal safety first.”
